Q:    Do I have to be a member of your church or a Lutheran to attend your worship services?

A:    No, all are welcome and encouraged to attend. We want people to come and hear our message. We believe that the message of God's word applies to all people. Our services do follow some of the Lutheran traditions, but you will find that the service is easy to follow and that you will not be "put on the spot" and expected to do something you've never done before.

Q:    I have younger children. Is there something for them?

A:    We welcome children to our services. In fact we have tailored a number of special programs intended especially for them. Every Sunday service has a "children's lesson," a short message intended especially for the children. During our 10:30 service on Sundays, we have an adult staffed nursery for children from infancy through age two. We also have "Truth for Kids" which begins immediately after the children's lesson for children age three through grade four. Of course, if you would prefer to have your children stay with you throughout the service, that's great!  After all, Jesus did tell us, "Let the children come to me..."

Q:    I would like to have my child baptized. What does it cost?

A:    We do not charge to baptize your child. We believe that Baptism is a gift of God's love that he wants to give to all nations, especially to children. We do ask that parents desiring baptism for their child meet with the Pastor for a brief explanation of the blessings of baptism and the obligations that parents take when they have their child baptized.  We will do whatever we can to make it possible for your child to be baptized.

Q:    What does it take to be a member of your church? Why would I want to be a member?

A:    Church membership is something a Christian will desire for him or herself because God's word teaches us that on-going fellowship with a group of Christians is important to the development and expression of our faith. We need the support, encouragement, and even correction of other Christians. We are obligated by God to do the same for others. Together, Christians are able to pool their resources to do more of the work God has given his people.

But church membership is also an expression of unity of faith. By joining a church, you are making a public announcement of your agreement with the teachings of a congregation as well as your desire to support the congregation in sharing those teachings with the world. So, it is important that a Christian become familiar with the teachings of a congregation before making such a public statement. Depending on your familiarity with a church's beliefs, it may take some time to review all that a congregation stands for. If you are interested in membership at Abiding Love, don't hesitate to contact the Pastor for more information.
